Paddington is a 50 year old bear, and arrived at Repair Cafe Winchester wearing a traditional duffle coat in need of extensive repair.
The coat had many small holes and other larger patches of damage to the sleeves and hood, probably all caused by moths. The coat colour had also faded in places, making it more difficult to repair by patching in new fabric.
Anne, our resident textiles repairer decided to make a blend of wool fibres of different colours to create a good match for the different areas. She needle felted the wool onto the fabric of the coat to repair the damage. It took a while to felt the wool onto the coat but it resulted in repair with a reasonable colour match.
