Dolls' house

We were contacted by St Paul's Preschool about a beautiful dolls' house that had been donated by one of the teachers. The house is made of wood and very strong, but after years of carrying it in and out of cupboards and being played with by hundreds of children, it was looking quite sorry and sad. The roof was missing and the stairs and doors had fallen off. The Prescool staff had hoped that, with a bit of TLC, the house could be restored to its former glory, and that by fixing the dolls' house they would both save money not having to buy a new one, but also would be showing the children the value, skill, and power of repairing our broken things.

Our wonderful woodwork team had a very enjoyable morning fixing the dolls' house and both the repairers and the Preschool were chuffed with the results:

The house has long been a cherished part of St Paul’s Preschool, and its repair offers a wonderful opportunity for a new generation of children to enjoy and learn from it. Through role play and modelling, the house helps extend children’s experiences, develop their language and communication skills, and explore emotional literacy as they talk about and act out the everyday activities that take place in their own homes — all in a playful, meaningful way.

We are very grateful for the lovely and thoughtful magic the super hero-handy person worked on our dolls house, and it is being used and enjoyed every day by a happy bunch of little people.
